NuKingdom is making a name throughout the state of Florida and your the 1st artist on the label. Give us the history of Yung Rockah. Where are you originally from?
I'm a lil' Haiti baby man. 63, 2nd ave where they raised me. Born and raised homie. How was it growing up there?
Back in the early 90's, I'm talking when they was still having the carnival event at Notre Dame church it was real rough out there. As a shorty I use to just sit back and watch the older heads do what they do but my people's r.i.p to my father did a great job at keeping me at bay and away from alot a crazy shit. But I loved everything I experienced out there cause that shit molded me to the person I am today.Who are some the artists that inspired you too become involved in hip hop?
My inspirations runs deeper than rap but as far as artist are concerned man I was real broad with the selection of music I'd grow up listening to. Jay-Z, Mystikal, Outkast, Trick Daddy, Big L, LL Cool J, JT Money the list goes on and on but one artist hands down had the greatest affect on making me want to become the artist I am today and that artist was The Notorious B.I.G.Rockah you've had a successful year thus far with your Florida tour along side various artist from Miami what was that experience like?
What we got brewing over here at Nu Kingdum Entertainment ain't strictly on us, we believe in making this shit a movement and the only way to do that is to not speak about, not even help it out. We doing this movement by actually getting shits done. If a nigga got talent its only right that his art gets exploited and brought out. So that's what I'm doing, I'm a snap on my records no doubt. But most defiantly I'm a collab with another up and coming artist and make this shit a movement and bring this whole state up with me. It's too much money and too many avenues for success to be greedy yuh dig.
"Welcome to Rock City" is one of the most highly anticipated mixtapes. Who worked on this project with you and how was the vibe?
Welcome To Rock City is one of my special project because it was the last actual mixtape hosted by my brother DJ Killa Mike may he rest in peace. But so much work and effort went into this mixtape its only right I release it right and have it sounding at its highest perfection. I got records with Black Prince from Keep it 100, MikeG off Zoe Pound ent., Felony Da God from Keep It 100, and the rest is in house Nu Kingdum ENT. artist. But alot of blood sweat and tears went into that mixtape and my follow up EP "CONVERSE-sation" gonna be a problem!! Remember I warned y'all."Plenty Niggas" video was a hot video and a lot of cameos on the streets of Lil Haiti. Take us back on that scene and tell me what the love and support was like?
Man you know when you have such a powerful record where the lyrics are motivational, and the presence of the niggaz on the record is so heavy the streets gotta back that shit up. The whole hood came thru and showed a nigga love on the set, not to mention my brother Killa Mike R.I.P was on the set and that was actually his last night out before he passed. So when you look at it that video just holds so much history to it right now and I could just remember meeting my nigga Blind for the 1st time, and seeing my nigga Gato and just vibin on the set.. All them niggaz, and it was all love because it was all real niggaz on the set. That shit was magicalWho or what motivates you to do this?
My motivation is my fam and just people who be in they basic daily struggles man. My father R.I.P was my hero and seeing him grind and chase his dream with no one backing him, just motivated me to the upmost to be out here and do what I gotta do. My momma use to sell clothes out the back of her car and now she on her 20th+ year running a clothing store in downtown miami. I know niggaz who done came up out the chain gang and hustled to find jobs and now could provide for they family nigga, people who wack up everyday nigga, trappin' hours just to clock into a dead end job and hustle they bread for what they gotta do outside of they bullshit ass 9-5. that's who motivates me, they are who i do this for, my body is just that a body. But my soul works through them,How can you be reached for shows and bookings?
