Here with the lovely Nena out of Bronx, NY. How is everything with you?
First off let me just say heyyy to Tip Drill Magazine and to all of the readers. Me, everything with me is well. I absolutely have no complaints. I am living the life I love and loving the life I live.Give us a little history about yourself.
Hmm lets see, I am a tomboy turned sexy beauty queen that you see before you. When I was younger I was into sports and wore nothing but baggy clothes and sneakers. You could not pay me to be in heels and a dress. But even then, I was always told that I was beautiful and there was something about my look. So as I began to grow into my looks and my body, I had to throw away those jeans, tees and sneakers and show off what I was hiding LOL! And it has been glam central from there and I have been loving every moment of it.What was it at a young age that inspired you to become a model?
When I was younger probably around the time I was in grade school, my mom did some modeling and as every other little girl, of course I wanted to be like mommy. But with me it took me a long time before I even felt comfortable enough to be in front of a camera or be in the spotlight. How long have you been modeling for?
Believe it or not I have only been modeling on and off for about 2 1/2 years. During that time when I took a break, I was in the middle of finishing school and trying to get my career off the ground. After I finished school, got rid of some of the negativity in my life, I decided to get back into that one thing I loved which was modeling.Do you see yourself doing this for the long run?
Anything that I decide to do in life is something I see myself doing for as long as God allows me to.What is the mark your trying to make in this industry?
My mark or legacy that I am trying to leave in this industry is to remove some of the negative connotations that comes with the style of modeling that is known as Urban or Eye Candy. Some people, photographers and models as well turn this style of modeling into something that isn't taken seriously. I want to show that this style of modeling should be taken just as serious as anything else especially if it is something that you take serious personally. I am also here to show some females that you can definitely do anything that you put your mind to, no matter what it is. If you have a vision or a goal then work hard and go after it. Never let anyone tell you different, and this is what I try to display each and every time I step foot in front of that camera.
What things run through your mind when your in front of the camera?
First thing, "is my outfit straight, is my hair and make up on point?" LOL! No but seriously when I am in front of that camera, I think a lot about the message that I am trying to portray. I always want to make sure people can see exactly what it is that I am trying to get across. I am also always thinking "here I am, doing what I love, now go to work and get busy."Do you think growing up in NY gave you the confidence you have in front of the camera?
Growing up in NY is tough. You learn a lot about gaining confidence and making sure your self-esteem is up there because if not then you will get eaten alive. Yes, I definitely give some credit to my city for making a strong confident female that is ready to take over the world, one flash of a camera at a time. How do you feel about the term "Eye Candy"?
As I said earlier, there definitely can be some negative connotations or stigmas with this term. I accept the fact that I am shaped a certain way and this is the genre of the industry that I am apart of. I don't have a problem being looked at as someone who is gorgeous, beautiful, sexy, or vixen-like as long as it is in a positive light. I love my body so when I am being "categorized" as candy for the eyes, I already know that I am so hey I run with it. I just wish that once someone says "Eye Candy" it is not always looked at as more on the raunchy side. You can be an Eye Candy model and still bring class and sexy not trashy into the picture and that is exactly what I am doing and will continue to do.What are your biggest assets as a model?
Physically, of course you can't help but to say what cannot be hidden and that is my hips, thighs and butt. Also, my eyes and the connection my eyes make with the camera is a huge asset. But my biggest asset on and off the camera is my smile and my brains :)
Brains, beauty and booty....you currently have two college degrees, are men you meet intimidated by that?
I am so glad you put Brains first. I take my education very serious. I worked too hard to not mention it whenever need be. I am known as a geek/nerd and I definitely do not have a problem with that. Along with my degrees, I graduated Cum Laude as well as being a member of Alpha Sigma Lambda National Honor Society. So hmm are men intimidated by that, some men have told me that I am very intimidating and I know that is not just because of my education but it is the way I carry myself as a whole. How are those degrees working for you?
My degrees are definitely working for me and I am blessed about that because you hear so much of people not finding work in their field after they graduate. You never want to go through years of school and go through so much money because of loans and at the end of the day not be doing something you spent time and money on in the first place. So I do not just have a job, I have a career and I couldn't be happier.Do you have any plans on starting your fashion line of clothes, jewelry or accessories? If so, tell us about it.
Designing was never my thing. Yes I am in the fashion industry but I am on the business side of it. I wish I had the patience to learn how to be creative in that aspect and make my own clothes and accessories because that would save me soooooo much money but hey that wasn't in my plans and I am ok with that. I eventually do want to open up my own shoe store so I can't wait for that to happen. Me being 6'0 without heels, of course my shoe size is up there so it is always hard to find stylish shoes in my size. So my plan is to open up a shoe store that caters to women who wears over a size 11.Getting a little personal, what turns you on about a man and/or women?
My biggest turn on is someone who is confident. To see that you can hold your head high while you are walking through your journey called life is so sexy.Describe your ideal perfect date.
Nothing in this world is perfect BUT my ideal date would be a good atmosphere, good conversation, good food and good drinks. I am such a simple girl, I do not ask for much. If we are vibing over some good white wine and good food then our date is going great.
How often do women hit on you and do they ever come at you with corny lines?
Women hit on me often and of course I do not have a problem with that because that is my preference. There have definitely been some corny lines but I try not to judge because they are trying. Sometimes people just don't know exactly the right words to say so they try to say something they may think is funny and it ends up being a failed attempt.Do you have any guilty pleasures?
Chocolate Donuts late at night before I go to bed. OMG that is so bad but sometimes I just cannot help it.Whats your ultimate sexual fantasy?
Hahahaha!!!! GREAT question. I have to get back to you on that one. :)Do you have any pet peeves when it comes to sex?
RUSHING!!!!! I hate that. Take your damn time, there is something called FOREPLAY. You gotta get me to the point where I am calling for it and for you. Some people just don't know how to take their time and that is not cool. When you have someone like me in front of you, you gotta enjoy every piece of my body, slow and sensual.Out of the hundreds of sex positions, whats your favorite?
Gosh, we are definitely getting personal huh?!? My favorite position has and probably will always be "doggy-style" I mean look at me, why wouldn't it?? Haha!!I know about your love for the game of basketball; it helped you get through high school, took you overseas to Spain and even helped pay for some of you college education. How do you feel about the NBA lockout as a fan and a lover of the game?
Oh please do not get me started on this lockout. I am a true fan and have been for a very very long time and its just saddens me that they cannot come to an agreement and get back to playing. I know there are many issues we may never know about but they forget that without the fans there is no NBA so hopefully they can get it together soon. But I can say this, I am so glad that my team, Dallas Mavericks were able to get their chip last season before all of this extra stuff took place.
Dream scenario, your cast to star in the part 2 of "Love & Basketball" and you can select any NBA player to co-star with you, who would that person be?
Can we please change this to what WNBA player it would be hahaha! I mean but I guess I can play along and answer the question the way you asked it. I would have to say Allen Iverson back in his prime. (I know he is not even in the NBA anymore but hey its my Dream scenario) Oh but in real life my co-star would be Shavonte Zellous she plays on the Indiana Fever and I have a huge crush on her.Have you caught the acting bug yet?
Honestly, that is one thing I have not found any interest in BUT I am not saying if I was given the opportunity I will not take it, of course I would. I would just do my research and study my craft just like with anything else. What are some of the projects your working on to close out 2011 and starting 2012 that we can look out for?
To close out 2011, My biggest project is promoting myself to the best of my ability. I am looking to be featured in other online and print magazines as well as to of course continuing gracing the cameras and doing some more hosting. A huge project that I am looking forward to starting on is writing my own book. I have so much to say and have been through so much that I want to tell my story. Not a lot of people know about that so I just give Tip Drill an exclusive, so definitely be on the lookout for that. What type of jobs and gigs are you available for?
I am available for Runway Projects, Calendars, Online & Print Magazine Publications, Tear Sheets, Music Videos, Book & Album Covers and of course photo shoots that includes Beauty, Fashion, Glamour, Swimwear, Lingerie and Artistic/Implied Nude. I am also available to host parties and events. How can our readers stay updated with you and how can you be reached for booking?
