Bad Guy // Dunk Ryders

Give us the history on Bad Guy. How did you get your start in the music industry?

I started by winning battles and talent shows then I realized I was good so I invested money into myself, put together a demo I gave it to a guy named Buckethead. He had a lot of money he liked it so he started a record label call Buckethead ent., and the year of 2001 I signed with him my name was Bishop back then, he gave me a six digit budget I put together an album with the help of his nephew Charles Young Jr aka Chuck who was my manager.

I recorded a song called "U Know U Ghetto", Chuck knew a hit. Buckethead had a close friend named Gerald Levert who said the song was big & that it inspired Buckethead, so we pushed it on the streets and got great feed back when Charles Young Sr., got out of prison he joined our team and he brought Tony Mercedies into the camp who loved the song.

I shot a video and it ended up on BET 7 times a day for six month it made it to main stream radio nationwide. My biggest market were ATL, MIA, ORLANDO, NYC, CHI-TOWN and a few other places. I was on tours with Luda, Lil Jon, Paster Troy, Ying Yang Twins and even Puffy on some dates when "U Know U Ghetto" made it to the #3 spot on billboard my ceo's had a big fall out about who was gone pay for the next single to be pushed.

They exchanged some very harsh word and decided not to work together and fucked me up big time my spends on radio dropped, BET dropped the video and my shows stopped coming. So I lost everything I had, shortly after that I went from a guy who couldn't go anywhere in America without signing autographs and taking pics to working a 9-5 and selling drugs at night. Buckethead wouldn't release me, I could have signed with another label like Cash Money, No Limit or Slip & Slide, I was so hurt after this until I gave up rap for a while, moved back in with my grandma and just chilled.

How did you link up with Trick and Dunk Ryders?

I got with Trick threw his brother Charles Young Jr aka Chuck who was managing Trick at the time they were starting a label call Dunk Ryder Records and asked me to join the movement so I did.

After being out of sight out of mind for so long I decided to re-event myself as the "bad guy", it fit so well because I have had so many bad rumors out about me like breaking in a bitch house jacking my dick being kicked out of every school I attended except Miami Killian but I use to fight a lot teachers, students, security, principles, coaches, and counselors it didn't matter who ever pissed me off.

I've been fired off every job I ever had even the church and school board jobs, I've been to jail a few times for guns and shit like that. Fights inside of clubs that cost them to close down was blamed on me so the name Bad Guy fits plus my music is aggressive and my image is like a crazy man who look like a robber.

Soon became Trick Daddy's hype man and traveled on the road with him for four years performing with him he always let me preform a song called "MYSELF" that ended up being a big street record in Florida.

From that I started getting my own shows, after that I put out 10,000 mixtapes & 5,000 singles with some youtube videos it was kind of hard because every artist on Dunk Ryders was pretty much on they own we had to use our own money we was just blessed to use Trick name.

Since that time when first getting with Trick, how has the game changed in our opinion?

Records sales are at an all time low since I first signed with Trick back in 2005, the mixtape game is the way to go to get shows and live off them even if you are just big in one state like me I make a decent living.

How was it working on the "What Dey Do" track with Trick and of Piccallo?

"What Dey Do" is really my song just like "Its My Dawg Birthday" I took off verses to let them get on it "What Dey Do" was originally just me and Piccallo I would've been selfish and use them songs for myself which I should of did because every time we put Trick on our songs people thank its his record so he get all the calls for the shows but it did help my buzz a little.

I understand your working on a mixtape, what is it called? And who's hosting it?

Lil Dade 305 is hosting my new mixtape I am gone call it "Yall Done Created A Monster" Trick Daddy present BAD GUY it will do good and I will be 1one of the biggest artist of 2011.

Who do you have featured on your mixtape?

Nobody big except Trick.

Was there anybody who you wanted to get on there and it didn't work out?

I am a big fan of a lot of rappers and R&B singers but if they ain't big I feel like its a waste putting muthfuckas on my mixtape I need help I cant help nobody yet plus I can hold my own ground down but the only reason you will hear a no name artist on my mixtape is because they helped me in some way so I owed them.

Who all are apart of the Dunk Ryders?

Its a lot of DUNK RYDERS but the main ones are myself, Iceberg, Fella & Trick's younger brother Soup who is in prison for drugs. He caught 10 years, but to be 100 the label ain't been in business in over a year because once again my two Ceo's Trick & Chuck can't get along.

When can we look for something from Dunk Ryders together?

Since I am the oldest I have reached out to everyone trying to get us back together but I don't know if it'll ever work, but I wish we could because we would be a power house in the game. Me and Fella got a song we finna drop.
